In my first job as a veterinary technician, more than 20 years ago, I noticed that my clients didn't always understand formal, textbook-style health care information. Since then, I have believed in translating "medicalese" into language everyone can grasp. I think you, along with your vet, should be an equal partner in caring for the health and well-being of your cat.
I have written 22 books on pet care and 1000 published articles and columns. I also was the national spokeswoman for the Purina® Cat Chow® WAY OF LIFE® Experience, a traveling community of resources that provides free education and training to cat enthusiasts around the country.
My most recent books are PETiQuette: Solving Behavior Problems in Your Multipet Household, Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover’s Soul and Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover’s Soul. Other popular books include Complete Care for Your Aging Cat, Complete Care for Your Aging Dog, and Complete Kitten Care, which includes the C.A.T. program developed for the Purina® Cat Chow® WAY OF LIFE® Experience. I am also the author of The Purina Encyclopedia of Cat Care, The Purina Encyclopedia of Dog Care, The First-Aid Companion for Dogs and Cats, Pet Care in the New Century: Cutting-Edge Medicine for Dogs and Cats, and New Choices in Natural Healing for Dogs and Cats.
I am a founder and president emeritus of the international Cat Writers' Association, a member of the Dog Writers' Association of America, a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers, a member of International Thriller Writers, and president of Oklahoma Writers Federation. I also lecture on pet-related issues at such conferences as Tufts Animal Expo and Pet Food Forum.
In connection with my work, I am often interviewed on radio and TV programs. You can currently see me on a CBS news "Pet Talk" segment twice each month. I have also appeared on Animal Planet Radio, NBC's Today Show, Good Day New York, CNN, Fox News: Pet News, and many other programs.
