They're all grown up—it's time to start treating, and feeding, them that way. Just because they're older, however, doesn't mean they're completely self-sufficient. Adult cats have nutritional needs particular to their life stage just as kittens and senior cats do, and they need your help to meet them. The CatChow.com Adult Care Center will clue you in on what you need to know.

Could you please explain what Feline FIP is? |
My cat had starting showing symptoms of wet FIP and my vet said she was almost sure it was FIP so the cat was euthanized. When the tests came back, they were negative. Should I rely on future FIP tests? Are my 2 other cats in danger? |
My kitten has been determined to have an enlarged kidney, either to be hereditary or to be FIP. I don't want to put her to sleep because she looks and acts as she is in good health. How can I tell if she's in pain? How do cats express pain/discomfort? |
Our 2 year old cat, Kit, had to be put down last week for FIP. Our 6 month old kitten, Reese, has a 1/100 titer, which, I was told, means he is has been exposed, but doesn't mean he will definitely get it. I read in one of your answers (I think) that he has a 20% chance of contracting the disease full blown. We have to get him tested in 3 weeks, and then again in 6 months. If his titer doesn't increase, then he will be fine I was told - he won't contract the disease. I was told by one vet that if he is fine, we can get another cat for him after 6 months, and they will be in no danger of getting it, even though he's been exposed. Then I was told by another vet, if he is fine, we can NEVER get another cat (as long as he lives) because they could still contract the disease from him, just because he has the titer. Could you please break the tie and tell me what your thoughts are? |

I have a 7 month old kitten, she is the only cat in my house and she doesn't go outside. Does she need to be vaccinated against FeLV and FIP? |

| It is important to feed your cat extra food while she is pregnant, particularly during the last two to three weeks before she has her kittens. A high-quality kitten food is a good choic, but the change from her regular food should be done carefully over at least seven days. Kittens born to mothers receiving insufficient amounts of protein show delayed development and poor social interaction. |
